In Portugal a 12.80 x 3.05 water tank was installed in a food production facility to replace an older tank. This food production company is one of Europe’s leading companies in the delivery of fresh, washed and ready-to-eat vegetables.
In this tank water is stored and circulated that is used for the washing process of the vegetables. The water is usually stored at a temperature of 4ºC. Filtration as water treatment is done outside of the tank.
Fun fact: the next time you will consume salads in a fast food restaurant or supermarket in Portugal, it most likely has been washed with water from this water tank.
